In 1909 Thomas L.Kay and his family moved to Pendleton in northeastern Oregon and took over the defunct Pendleton Woolen Mills and started there business there. Since then Pendleton has become renowned for their Native American inspired blanket designs and durable woollen shirts. Today the company is still owned by the family and all blankets are proudly made in Pendleton, Oregon.

The Pendleton AICF Blanket collection are made for the American Indian College Fund, where Pendleton support their work. The sales from these blankets help fund scholarships to colleges and make a huge difference to the Native American community students around the USA.

The Naskan Saddle blanket is inspired by Johano-ai, the Navajo sun god, who begins his day in the east and rides one of his five horses across the sky to his post in the west while dragging his shining, golden orb—the sun. As his horse gallops across the sky, gorgeous hides and ornately woven blankets, known as naskan, lie beneath its hooves. This Pendleton blanket derives its mountain pattern and name from these sacred Navajo blankets.

This Blanket is saddle size, originally used on horses. This is perfect as a throw over the bottom of a bed or sofa.
