Aurora Shoe Company is a very unique case of quality over quantity. The brand are solely built around craft continuity, locality and anti-industrial value. Auroras DNA is very special.
The company began in a small shoe making workshop in Aurora, upstate New York in the early 90’s. A small artisan collective of saddlers and shoemakers that didnt outsource anything and made all their shoes by hand, to order. Each shoe is made “one step at a time” with the emphasis being on human skills over efficiency. Local manufacturing is the DNA of the brand with all leather and hardware sourced in the USA.
Alongside the hand crated core values of Aurora, the brand push a comfort first design philosophy. With just Three styles of shoe, all are designed and built around the natural shape of the foot using soft leathers, simple construction and “time to naturally break in” fits. The shoes are also designed to last many years, with the construction purposely made to be easy to resole. This has lead to the encouragement of long term ownership and care of the products. Aurora has become the anti-hype product that has a tiny hand picked selection of retail partners who share in the slow footwear philosophy they do.
